Whole-Home Renovations
Whole-home renovations across the Northern Rivers NSW. Major refurbishments, structural changes, finishes. Licensed builder 345758C.
A whole-home renovation rebuilds the interior of an existing house — typically while keeping the external walls and roof. It's a useful pathway when the location is right, the footprint is right, but the internal layout, finishes and services have aged out. Riversedge Building Group runs full interior refurbishments across the Northern Rivers.
Whole-home renos sit between a kitchen-or-bathroom job and a knock-down-rebuild on the scale axis. They often involve structural work (removing internal walls, opening up living areas), full re-wire and re-plumb, new wet areas, new flooring, and new finish carpentry throughout.
Living arrangements during a whole-home reno
Whole-home interior strip-outs typically aren't liveable through the build. We programme the work to a tight schedule (most jobs run 4–6 months end-to-end) and clients usually arrange rental accommodation for that period. We'll confirm this before contract.
Renovate or knock down and rebuild?
A whole-home renovation makes sense when the structure and roof are sound, the footprint suits how you want to live, and the location or character of the house is worth keeping — you are essentially renewing everything inside a good shell. Once you are also reworking the structure, footings or roof, the numbers can move closer to a knock-down-rebuild, which then buys you a brand-new home with a fresh warranty. We give you a straight comparison so the decision is made on facts, not guesswork.
Questions
- Can I stay in the house during the work?
- A full interior refurbishment generally is not liveable while it is underway — services are off, wet areas are out and dust is unavoidable. Most clients arrange rental accommodation for the build period, and we lock the expected timeframe in before contract so you can plan around it.
- Can you keep parts of the existing home?
- Yes — sound existing elements such as a roof, a recent extension, hardwood flooring or particular character features can be retained and integrated into the new work. We assess what is worth keeping case by case and design the renovation around it.
