Kitchen Renovations in the Northern Rivers
Kitchen renovations across the Northern Rivers NSW. Layout changes, joinery, stone, splashbacks, appliances. Licensed builder.
A kitchen rebuild is one of the higher-impact renovation moves you can make — it's the room you use every day and where finish quality is most obvious. Riversedge Building Group builds full kitchen renovations across the Northern Rivers, from straight rip-and-replace through to layout-changing rebuilds with structural work.
Our kitchen work covers everything from cabinetry order and installation, stone benchtops, tiling, splashbacks, electrical and plumbing rough-in, appliance integration, and finish carpentry. We work with both our own preferred cabinetmakers and outside ones you've already chosen.
Layout-changing vs straight rip-and-replace
A straight rip-and-replace (new kitchen in the existing footprint) typically runs 4–6 weeks. Layout-changing renos — removing a wall, moving plumbing or relocating the kitchen entirely — typically run 6–10 weeks and may need structural engineering and council approval depending on whether the wall is load-bearing.
What drives a kitchen budget
The biggest cost levers are the extent of cabinetry and joinery, the benchtop material, the appliance package, and whether the job stays in the existing footprint or moves walls, plumbing and electrical. A like-for-like refit in place is the most predictable; relocating services or opening up to an adjoining room adds structural and trade work. We itemise the quote so you can see what each element contributes and adjust the scope before we start.
Questions
- Will I be without a kitchen for the whole job?
- The kitchen is out of action for the build period. We sequence the work to keep that window as short as the scope allows, and many clients set up a temporary kitchen (fridge, microwave, kettle) elsewhere in the home for the duration.
- Do I need council approval for a kitchen renovation?
- A cosmetic or like-for-like kitchen renovation in the same footprint usually does not need council approval. Removing a load-bearing wall, or major relocation of plumbing or drainage, can require engineering and approval. We tell you which category your job falls into before quoting.
